QAS - Infrastructure
This is a unique first of its kind applicatioon funded by World Bank and deployed by a Government Client to map all the ongoing infrastructure projects and track the quality of job work via a central Interface. A unique ambitious effrots to track thousand of trucks, people online on central web interface, which was successfully deployed by Excel Internet.
This is first of its kind application, deployed by a State Government Client to map all the ongoing infrastructure projects and track the quality of contracts via a central Interface. The application is capable of tracking thousands of trucks, raw material and review the entire quality assurance procedure and their compliance. The application was consulted, designed and succesfully deployed by Excel Internet for its beta launch.
The Project Objective
Deploying all the on-going infrastrucutre development projects under single interface with the ability to track and monitor them in real time. The complextiy was the various Contractors and sub-contractors involved and several engineers adn consultants involved in the Quality Assurance System; Besides the precious raw materials being transported by thousand of trucks.
The Obejctive of the poject was to create a central command control which can track the compliance of quality procedure on any ongoing infrastructure contracts in te given territory. A system was required which could track trucks, materials, manpower and map with the skewedness to check the quality and lass of material in transit. The challege was to manage a central report for a larger project whic was diveided amongst many vendor (Contractors and sub-contractors); The scenario was further complicated with the involvement of more than on consultant in the Quality Assurance System. The real challenege was to accumulate the data from various non connected source and compile a comprehensive reporting on material tracking, quality measurement, resource involvement for the various projects.
Challenges
Multiple layer of Consultants, Contractors, Sub Contractors, Engineers and users. It was imperative that one contractor has full control on its users and also that these users are allowed the restricted access, without compromising the heirarchy of various sub-systems of control enforced by the client.
The challenge was to track the thousand of valid vehicles, make them accountable and monitor their real time movement on roads. For this we implemented GPS controlling and tracking devices which can place them on QAS system and track their real time movement and activity. The other challenge was to track the necesary gadgets involved in the process viz. laptops, GPS devices etc in a controlled record keeping environment to validate teh authenticity of the QAS tests conducted by team from Client and their Managing Consultants.
Implementation
The beta was implemented after numerous interatiosn with Client's team and meeting with consultants, contractors, understanding their practical concerns and limitations and finally building an application which achieved this aim. The beta has been implemented and going by the reviews, it was never so easy to access thre real time project monitoring at sucha large and distributed space.
